ABOUT THE CENTER FOR THE FUTURE OF LEARNING
WE ARE POSSIBILITY AT WORK.
OUR WORK
We bring together community (educators, leaders, policymakers, and young people) to align around Nevada’s vision for the future of learning. We design and facilitate structured spaces for listening, reflection, and co-design so that ideas are shaped by real needs and multiple perspectives. This work turns dialogue into coordinated action across the state.
In partnership with the Nevada Department of Education, we launched the Nevada Future of Learning Network in 2023. Since then, we have convened hundreds of educators and community members across Nevada to share practices, develop ideas and resources, and support implementation in schools and systems.
Connect a movement dedicated to the future of learning

We co-design, pilot, and refine learning innovations in real classrooms, schools, and community settings. We support districts and educators in implementing Portrait of a Nevada Learner-aligned practices and systems, developing competency-based approaches, and testing new models that make learning more student-centered and relevant.
Key efforts include:
-
School and district case studies showing Portrait implementation in action
-
Community Learning Projects that connect classrooms with local partners and experiences
-
The Future Studio, an out-of-school innovation hub designed by Las Vegas youth that embraces learner agency and reimagines learning experiences through real-world, community-connected projects
Build solutions that allow our communities to innovate now
-
Amplify and scale innovations that work and inspire
We elevate what works and help it spread. We document practice on our blog, share stories, and connect innovations on our podcast so effective ideas scale. Through storytelling and networked learning, we help turn local success into statewide impact and national insight.

Learning must evolve as quickly as the world around it.
Education systems are persistently out of sync with what it takes for learners to grow, workforces to function, and communities to thrive.
Engagement is declining, and academic learning is not preparing every young person for a rapidly changing world. As Nevada’s communities grow and diversify, so do the possibilities to create innovative, future-focused solutions that prepare learners to thrive in their careers and contribute to their communities.
Possibility is never just an idea for us—it’s a movement—a call to create, collaborate, and show up with and for our communities.

WHAT WE DO
The IAN Center for the Future of Learning brings together educators, young people and community leaders to reimagine learning in Nevada. We foster collaboration, build future-focused solutions and amplify proven practices to address today’s education challenges while shaping a thriving tomorrow. We are guided by the belief that learning is shaped by the collective power of people and communities.
OUR LEADERS
The CFL team has a track record of impactful work under the umbrella of ed.Xtraordinary, powered by Teach For America. They led a community-driven effort to develop the Portrait of a Nevada Learner in partnership with the Nevada Department of Education and launched the Nevada Future of Learning Network. Through initiatives piloted under the network, learners have experienced increased engagement, skills development, and connection to their community. Now, as an independent nonprofit, CFL builds on this foundation to accelerate learning innovation across Nevada.
Our Values
Empowering Curiosity & Self-Awareness
We practice deep self-awareness and agency, using mindful reflection to leverage our strengths and learn from challenges. Grounded in our whole selves, we take ownership of our growth and sustain the spark of joy in our work. We model exploration by asking “How might we?” and “What if?”—inviting others to imagine and grow alongside us.
Cultivating Trust & Connection
We lead through co-creation, bringing partners in early to share ownership and shape direction. We build trust through active listening, clear expectations, and candid feedback. We strengthen our work by engaging diverse perspectives and inviting thoughtful challenge. Together, we cultivate a community grounded in shared purpose and built for enduring partnership.
Designing for Actionable Impact
We lead by turning ideas into action, asking daily how our thinking drives results. Grounded in design thinking and a “Yes, and” mindset, we translate learning into tangible shifts for Nevada’s learners and education system. We test solutions in real contexts and move them forward, even when barriers stand in the way.
